What practices use Reveal for. So far: VAT returns and weekly bookkeeping.

Both come from real use. Each shows what Reveal did, what was left for the practice, and what it means for your team.

01 · Before a VAT return

Six months of bank lines, every one decided in a single sitting.

An accountant chases a client, Sam, for the receipt for a £288.65 Booker Wholesale payment: on day 1, day 14 and day 31, with no reply. Reveal searches Sam's connected mailbox read-only, ignores personal messages, finds Booker invoice 4471 and matches it to the bank line, which changes from "No receipt" to "Evidence found". Sam never had to reply.

A restaurant had a VAT return due at the end of the summer, and six months of bank lines, April to September 2026, with supporting evidence missing. The practice gave Reveal the lines, and the client connected their mailbox once.

Reveal searched the mailbox and every line got a decision within a 2.3-hour window: evidenced, or not evidenced and why. Nobody had to ask the client for anything it found.

What was left. 65 lines, £25,370. 32 of them (£6,004) have invoices in supplier portals, which weren't connected yet. 5 were payments over £1,000 that still needed the client.

What it means before a VAT return. The slow part is waiting on the client, and for VAT the invoices matter most: they're what supports the VAT a business reclaims. Reveal answers what it can from the mailbox the same day, so the request you send is shorter, and nothing that was already in an inbox holds the return up. VAT returns come round four times a year, and Making Tax Digital for Income Tax is adding quarterly deadlines for sole traders and landlords too. Why MTD will expose your workflow →

02 · Weekly bookkeeping

Every week starts with the evidence already attached.

Bookkeeping practices run weekly. As new bank lines come in from the client's accounting data, Reveal searches the client's connected sources and each line gets a decision within hours: evidenced, with a suggested treatment for your team to confirm, or marked as missing.

So the weekly session is reviewing, not hunting. Whatever is left goes to the client as one short list, not a drip of emails through the week.

  1. 1 New bank lines arrive From the client's accounting data.
  2. 2 Each line gets a decision within hours Median 2.2 hours from import. Every line in our results was decided within 4.6 hours.
  3. 3 Your weekly session Confirm the matches and suggested treatments, then send the client one short list of what's left.

What it means every week. The bigger the payment, the more often its invoice is already in the mailbox: 67% of payments over £1,000 were found. So the expensive lines are usually settled before your team opens the file. See the results →
