Shorter chase lists, with the expensive items gone first.
Across 681 real bank transactions at 2 accounting practices, Reveal evidenced £62,557 of spend straight from client mailboxes, including two in three payments over £1,000. Every match was confirmed by a person.
Key figures
What Reveal finds, and what it won't.
Reveal finds invoices and receipts that reach a client's mailbox. Big payments usually come with an emailed invoice; small card spends usually don't. That's why it found 47.1% of the money but 18.6% of the lines.
Found, by payment size
What it won't find
- Small card spends whose receipts never reach an inbox: parking, coffee, tolls. It found 6.9% of lines under £10.
- Paper and in-person receipts. 20 lines here.
- Director's loans. There's no invoice to find. 36 lines here.
- Invoices sent somewhere else, like a mailbox that isn't connected. 3 lines here.
- Invoices in supplier portals, until the portal is connected. 32 lines here. Coming next
What that does to your chase list.
Every line that needs a document is something to ask the client for. Reveal takes its finds off the list before anyone asks, so the list gets shorter, and much lighter.

The Missing Receipt Experiment
10 accounting practices give Reveal up to 300 transactions each that are missing supporting evidence, 3,000 in all. Reveal searches their clients' connected inboxes and supported supplier portals first, and the experiment measures how much chasing that avoids.
- Pre-Chase Recovery Rate
- Of the transactions a practice would normally chase the client for, the share where Reveal finds an acceptable supporting document before the practice contacts the client again.

- Source
- Reveal production data, read once and read-only, all time to 2 October 2026. Test accounts excluded. Clients anonymised as Client A, Client B and Client C; no client, merchant, person, email or location names.
- Transaction
- A bank line from a client's statement that Reveal searched for supporting evidence.
- Evidenced
- A supporting document was matched to the line and confirmed by a person. Nothing was filed automatically.
- By value
- Measured on the bank transaction amounts.
- Needed a document
- Every line except director's loans (36 lines, £20,621) and duplicate bank lines (3, £263). This is the chase list.
- Decision time
- From a statement's import to a decision on the line: evidenced, or not evidenced with a reason where one was recorded.
Limits
- A small sample: 3 client businesses at 2 practices. It isn't a benchmark, and it isn't representative of every practice.
- 292 lines were not found and no reason was recorded, so we make no claim about why.
- Reasons were recorded by reviewers, not inferred.
- Value results lean on larger transactions: Client C accounts for £39,381 of the £62,557.
- Client mailboxes only. No supplier portals or other sources were connected.
