Reveal vs Content Snare: better requests, or no request?

Content Snare organises asking clients for documents, with checklists and reminders. Reveal retrieves them so you don't have to ask. How they differ.

Miles Udemezue, Reveal
Requests

Makes asking clients for documents organised.

  1. You send the client a checklist
  2. Reminders go out until it is done
  3. The client uploads files and answers
  4. You approve each item
Reveal
Retrieval

Goes and gets the evidence for each transaction.

  1. A transaction is missing its invoice or receipt
  2. Reveal retrieves it from the client's approved sources
  3. It links it to the payment and suggests a treatment
  4. Your team reviews it, and it goes to the ledger

Content Snare and Reveal tackle the same headache from different sides. Content Snare makes requests better: you send the client a checklist, it reminds them automatically, and they upload files and answer questions through a link. Reveal removes the request for invoices and receipts: once the client approves access, it retrieves the evidence from their inbox and supplier portals and links it to each transaction.

Content Snare is the stronger tool for information only the client has. Reveal is for documents that already exist somewhere digital.

How Content Snare works

You build a checklist of what you need: text answers, files or choices, each with instructions. The client gets a secure link with no password to remember, and answers save as they go, so they don’t have to finish in one sitting. Content Snare sends reminders for anything outstanding, and your team approves or rejects each item as it comes in. Completed requests can be exported to cloud storage automatically.

It makes chasing organised, consistent and much less awkward.

How Reveal works

The client clicks a link and connects their email. There’s no app to download and no account to create. Reveal reads the mailbox read-only, to recognise receipts and invoices: it can’t send, change or delete anything, and the practice sees only the financial documents it retrieves, never the inbox. Supplier portals are connected once, and some ask the client to complete a security step.

For each transaction, Reveal finds the evidence, links it to the payment and shows why it matched and where it came from. It extracts the details and suggests a treatment, but it doesn’t decide. Your team reviews it before it goes to the ledger. When nothing is found, the transaction is marked not found rather than filled with a guess.

The real difference: chasing better, or not chasing

A request tool still depends on the client: they have to read the request, find each document and upload it. Reminders make that more likely, but the work is still theirs, and a missing invoice still means another round.

Most missing invoices and receipts already exist, in the client’s inbox or a supplier portal. Reveal goes and gets them, so there’s no request to send.

Can you use both?

Yes, and they fit together well. Use Content Snare for what only the client can tell you: questionnaires, identity documents, explanations. Let Reveal retrieve the invoices and receipts, so your requests shrink to the things that genuinely need the client.

Which should you choose?

  • Content Snare, if most of what you collect is information and documents that only the client has.
  • Reveal, if most of your chasing is for invoices and receipts that already exist digitally.
