Sent by your bookkeeper
Connecting your email, explained
Your bookkeeper uses Reveal to find the receipts behind your transactions, so you are not chased for them. It is a read-only connection, narrower than the bank feed you have already set up. Here is exactly what it does.
Why your bookkeeper sent you this
Every business transaction needs a receipt or invoice as proof. Your bookkeeper normally gets these by asking you for the ones that are missing, again and again. You know the emails. “Can you dig out the receipt for…”
Reveal finds those receipts for them, so the chasing stops. Less back and forth for you, and your books stay clean without the weekly admin.
What actually happens when you connect
1
Looks through your inbox for one kind of thing: receipts and invoices that match transactions in your accounts. A receipt from Amazon, an invoice from a supplier, a fare from Uber.
2
Pulls those documents across to your bookkeeper. That is the whole job.
3
Ignores everything else. Your personal emails, your conversations, your drafts. It is not looking at them and it does not keep them.
It’s the same kind of permission as your bank feed
You have probably already connected your bank account to your accounting software. That gives it a view of every payment you make and receive.
This is the same kind of one-click permission, and it asks for less. It is read-only, and it is pointed at receipts, not at your money. If connecting your bank felt fine, this is a smaller version of the same thing.
What Reveal can and can’t touch
WHAT REVEAL DOES
Reads your email to find receipts and invoices, read-only
Matches them to the transactions in your accounts
Sends those documents to your bookkeeper
Logs every document it retrieves, so there is a record
WHAT REVEAL NEVER DOES
Read or keep your personal emails
Send, delete, or change anything in your account
Touch your contacts, drafts, or calendar
Share your information with anyone but your bookkeeper
FOR THE TECHNICALLY MINDED
The connection uses your email provider’s standard read-only permission. Reveal’s software is limited to retrieving financial documents, and it logs what it accesses.
You can switch it off any time
You stay in control. Disconnect whenever you want, straight from your Google or Microsoft account settings. No email to send, no one to ask. The moment you disconnect, the access is gone.
Questions? Ask your bookkeeper
Not sure about something here? Your bookkeeper set this up and can answer anything. They chose Reveal because it saves you both time, not to add one more thing to worry about.
